Chasing Sunshine

Beat around the bush,
Ne’er quite get to the crux where,
Truth hides in plain sight.

Rain water, boot legs –
Regardless, she will perish;
She must meet her fate.

She’s covered in dirt
“Just as well – it fits” they said,
Now she awaits death.

Write an ode for her,
Place her on a pedestal –
Fling her down to earth

The tea leaves constrained
Behind the strainer, bleed in –
Calling over pain.

Is this a deep thought?
Perhaps it is a feeling.
My mind is a moat.

I wish to walk far,
Deep down this long forest trail,
And fail to return.

Stolen moments give
A thrill of illicit joy,
Like a midnight treat.

Where did the shame hide?
Did it settle in deep down,
Where light dare not go?

Throw at me barbs, thorns,
Whatever you will, to hurt,
It’s what my soul thirsts.
